Crown Highways Limited have moved into the commercial EV charging sector, installing & commissioning its first EV wall mounted charger on behalf of Ubitricity, this was installed inside an underground car park at Grosvenor Road 145, Pimlico, London.
The wall mounted unit is to help the customer overcome the communication and recharge issues for his residents, to help with demand for the EV charging units to meet the growing requirements for his residents who are moving to the electric or hybrid car.
With being an underground car park, one of the engineering issues is that it is a communication black spot, by utilising the Ubitricity mobile metering system the system when the meter is moved to the home or when the vehicle leaves the car park with the lead, it will remotely send the information so it can be charged or recharged to the individual customer, reducing the need for extra communication wiring, and becoming a wireless system.
The Crown Highways team of Steve Humpage and Richard Boulter, worked in an efficient way to minimise the installation impact on the building utilising existing infrastructure, to reduce unnecessary works requiring to be carried out and to reduce the impact on the residents, whilst making sure that the unit can be maintained, updated or repaired with minimum impact going forward.
Crown Highways Limited has now installed Street EV chargers, Work Place Chargers and chargers for Landlords in a commercial building for residential use, we are now looking to develop this further with a home based installation team, to work in conjunction with or ICP team, who will increase their scope into metering to complement our clients/customers needs.
Mike Dale (Managing Director) said:
This is a growing part of our business and its great to be involved in such a new technology which will grow and grow over the next few years. Our team are gaining greater knowledge in all the different types of EV charging and we’re quickly becoming experts in the field.
