The award entries covered topics such as vision for the future, company initiatives, the company’s objectives and how we they have made, and continue to make a positive contribution in the local community. Upon deciding Crown Highways were the best fit of this criteria, a spokesperson for Greater Birmingham Chambers said:
“The Lichfield winner is Crown Highways of Chasetown, which has 130 employees and works for Highways England and various local authorities on the maintenance of the road system.
“The firm started life in 1994 as a civil engineering contractor but has subsequently moved into several new sectors, including technology, street lighting, sign installation and drainage.
“Among new markets for the firm is electric vehicles, where it will be involved in the installation of charging points.
“The firm is also active in the local community, and supports and sponsors various local clubs and schools, as well as individuals such as up-and-coming motocross competitor Dan Leadbetter and professional golfer James Adams.”
The Business of the Year award winners were chosen by a panel of judges chaired by Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce’s chief operating officer Russell Jeans, and which included Solihull Chamber president Kevin Johns, Future Faces president Sian Averill and Asian Business Chamber vice-president Manjit Kang.
Mr Jeans said:
“The high calibre of entries for all three categories offered a great reminder of the quality of businesses in these parts of the region and drawing up the shortlist certainly proved to be a difficult task for the judges. Congratulations to Crown Highways on their award as business of the year – it wasn’t an easy one to win.”
Mike Dale, Managing Director of Crown Highways said:
“We are immensely proud to be awarded the Lichfield Business of the Year award by the GB Chamber. It’s fantastic to be recognised for our efforts and the values we believe in- such as supporting the local area and its people, and for having a positive effect on business in the region.
“We are proud to be able to display this award as a sign of our continued building for the future, ensuring Crown Highways are at the forefront of new technologies and bringing young workers into the industry.”
