Crown Highways Charity Golf Day Raises More Than £12,000 for Kids’ Village
Crown Highways recently hosted a hugely successful charity golf day at Little Aston Golf Club, bringing together 17 teams for a day of golf, fundraising and support for Charlotte’s Kids’ Village, Crown Highways’ Charity of the Year.
The event was organised by Crown Highways Chairman Steve Jones, with support from his wife Julie, his son Daniel Jones of LINQ Events, and Peter Bailey. The family, together with the wider Crown Highways business, are passionate supporters of Kids’ Village, and the event provided an opportunity to bring together friends, colleagues and business contacts behind a cause particularly close to their hearts.
The day began with bacon sandwiches and coffee before the teams headed out onto the course, with many experiencing Little Aston Golf Club for the first time. Thankfully, the weather was kind throughout, helping to create a fantastic atmosphere as the 17 teams competed.
A particularly important part of the day was hearing from Kids’ Village founder Samantha Fletcher-Goodwin, who shared her inspirational story of childhood cancer and explained how her dream of creating the UK’s first holiday village for critically ill children and their families became a reality.
That vision has been made possible through the support of people, businesses and fundraisers who have come together behind Kids’ Village, and Crown Highways is proud to be part of that community.
The generosity of everyone involved in the golf day resulted in more than £12,000 being raised for Kids’ Village, helping the charity move closer to opening the Village and welcoming its first families next year.
For Crown Highways, the event forms part of the company’s ongoing commitment to its Charity of the Year. Crown has already contributed directly to the development of the site through its infrastructure works, while its wider programme of fundraising continues to support the charity as it moves closer to welcoming families.
Crown Highways Chairman Steve Jones added:
“Crown Highways would like to thank everyone who took part and donated so generously, as well as the team at Little Aston Golf Club, particularly Anthony and Dan, for their warm welcome and support throughout the day.
“A special thank you also goes to Julie, Daniel and Peter for the time and effort invested in organising the event and bringing so many people together for such an important cause.
“The result was a fantastic day on the course but, more importantly, a significant contribution towards helping Kids’ Village get closer to opening its doors.”
