News / Local school receives tools for community and wellbeing initiatives
As the students have finally returned, local secondary school Kingsmead is very aware of the impact that home-schooling and lockdown has had on its student’s mental health and well-being.
Kingmead School wants to place an emphasis on wellbeing as the students make a return to the classroom, putting in place a variety of activities to support this, including outdoor gardening.
Additionally, the school is generating community initiatives in which students can further distance themselves from the recent isolation period by getting involved with a local litter pick carried out in groups.
Crown Highways is delighted to have been approached by the local school to support these initiatives and has backed the causes by donating a variety of gardening tools, litter picking equipment and also safety gloves for the students to use throughout their activities.
Mrs Mincher, Head of Kingsmead School said:
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Crown Highways for donating the tools to allow us to get the children out and help with community work. The children have found this second lockdown so hard and what you have donated to us will make such a difference.”
Pete Benton, Health, Safety & Environmental Manager commented saying:
“We are delighted to be able help a local school with the donation of the gardening and little picking equipment. Being a company with 7 internal mental health first aiders and a focus on the environment, this activity is aligned with our own values.
“It’s great to see a local school putting a massive focus into wellbeing due to the current climate, as home-schooling and lockdown will have had a negative impact on many of the children’s lives.”
