Crown Highways, a leader in the UK’s highway infrastructure sector, has officially opened its new depot in Astley.
Strategically chosen for its excellent transport links and proximity to key clients, this move is a testament to the company’s remarkable growth in the Northwest, driven by increasing demand for their services.
With a well-established presence in Greater Manchester, Crown Highways’ expansion is more than double the size of its previous base, with the company’s previous 20,000ft2 facility outgrown, Crown Highways underscores its Northwest growth by moving into its new 43,500ft2 depot.
A Testament to Business Growth
The new Astley depot is not just a larger space; it is a symbol of Crown Highways’ successful trajectory in the Northwest and of its commitment to the region’s infrastructure and economic development
Over the years, Crown has significantly expanded its operations, necessitating a new home to better serve its growing client base. The new facility is equipped to handle a higher volume of projects, reflecting the company’s substantial business growth and strategic vision.
“Our new depot in Astley is a reflection of how far we’ve come,” said Mike Dale, MD of Crown Highways.
“It’s not just about a larger space; it’s about our ability to serve more clients, take on more ambitious projects, and continue to grow our team.”
Creating Opportunities in the Local Community
Crown Highways has always been committed to creating opportunities within the communities they serve. The new depot brings with it numerous job opportunities, as the company is actively hiring for multiple vacancies.
In addition, Crown is offering more apprenticeships, providing valuable career pathways for young people in the region.
“We believe in investing in the future, and our apprenticeship programmes are designed to provide hands-on experience and training to the next generation of professionals,” Mike added.
Making an impact on the Astley community
Even before the new depot was fully operational, Crown Highways had already started making a positive impact in the Astley community.
The company has sponsored the summer fun fair at Ellenbrook Primary School, an event that plays a crucial role in funding the academic year. This partnership is just the beginning of Crown’s efforts to support local education and community initiatives.
Additionally, Crown Highways’ Business Manager, Steph Smith, has been pro-active in establishing connections with local secondary schools and colleges in the area – and has booked a careers fair for November 2024 where Crown will showcase potential careers across its range of divisions.
Mike Leadbetter, Operations Director of Crown Highways added:
“We have already employed people from the local area and will continue to do so as we grow. Andy Austin (Crown Highways’ Commercial Manager) has offered a degree apprenticeship to a local lad who starts with us in September, and we have a new supervisor and 2 local men also recruited to our civils team.”
“We were proud to sponsor Ellenbrook Primary School’s summer fun fair and look forward to more opportunities to engage with the school and the wider community.
“We plan to visit the school to speak with the children about careers in construction, inspiring them to consider this rewarding field.”
