Crown Highways can look back on 2025 as a year defined by progress, purpose and pride, with achievements that extended well beyond the delivery of high-quality infrastructure. Across projects, partnerships and charitable activity, the year reflected a business continuing to grow while remaining firmly rooted in its values.

One of the most significant highlights was the McClean Way improvement scheme, which secured the CECA Midlands Project of the Year Award in the up to £3 million category. The scheme transformed the walking, cycling and wheeling route between Pelsall and Brownhills, improving accessibility and safety while enhancing the surrounding environment through landscaping, tree planting and drainage improvements. The award recognised the collaborative effort behind a project that delivered lasting benefits for the local community.

Another milestone came with the completion and opening of the internal access road at Kids Village, the UK’s first holiday village for children with critical illnesses. Known as The Crown Highway, the new road links lodge plots across the site and represents an important step towards welcoming families. For Crown Highways, contributing to a project that will provide respite, comfort and hope to so many was a privilege and a source of genuine pride.

Throughout the year, Crown’s commitment to safety remained unwavering, underlined by the achievement of a seventh consecutive RoSPA Gold Award for health and safety performance. This recognition reflects the strength of the company’s safety culture and the shared responsibility embraced by teams across the business.

Community engagement continued to play a central role in Crown’s activities. The second annual charity football tournament, held at Chasetown Football Club, raised £1,700 for Katharine House Hospice.

The event brought together colleagues, partners and industry friends, reinforcing Crown’s belief in using teamwork and shared experiences to support vital local causes. Crown also took part in the Keith Baldwin Memorial Rally, supporting cancer related charities and honouring a respected figure within the highways sector.

The company also marked 15 years of sponsorship with Chasetown Football Club in 2025. Over that time, Crown’s support has extended across senior and junior teams, with more than 100 young players benefiting from sustained investment in grassroots sport and community development.

Alongside these achievements, 2025 marked ten years since Managing Director Mike Dale joined Crown Highways. During his leadership, the business has experienced significant growth, expanded its presence on key frameworks and strengthened its commitment to community and charitable engagement alongside operational excellence.

As the calendar turned, Crown Highways carried this momentum into 2026.

The new year began with the company’s annual Stand Down Day, bringing teams together to refocus on wellbeing, safety and shared objectives for the year ahead.

The Stand Down Day included a welcome back by MD Mike and safety updates and objectives from H&S Manager Pete Benton. Additionally, for the second year, Crown Highways provided a range of health screening tests for employees that included cholesterol, thyroid and PSA tests – emphasising the company’s commitment to employee wellbeing.

Crown was also joined by Sam Fletcher, founder of children’s charity Kids Village as it was announced that they are to become Crown’s chosen charity of the year for 2026.

The day also featured Director Steph Smith launching the 2026 diversity survey, Commercial Manager Andy Austin discuss what his team is looking towards in 2026, and the company’s annual employee awards.

In keeping with its commitment to social value, early 2026 has also seen Crown undertake treecycling in support of Birmingham Hospice, ensuring Christmas trees were responsibly recycled while raising funds for an important local charity.

With 2025 setting a strong foundation and 2026 already underway, Crown Highways continues to look ahead with confidence, driven by a clear purpose to deliver quality infrastructure, support communities and put people at the heart of everything it does.
