Victory at CECA was the first of the Crown double

Crown Highways is proud to announce its recent double success, winning two prestigious awards for its exceptional work on The Greenway Project, delivered in collaboration with Tarmac and Walsall Council.

The project was recognised at both the CECA Midlands Awards, where Crown Highways won Project of the Year in the ‘Up to £3m’ category, and the Highways Awards on Tuesday 24th September 2024, where the team took home the Active Travel Scheme of the Year award.

These accolades reflect Crown Highways’ dedication to delivering high-quality operations and its commitment to creating outstanding infrastructure projects that serve the community.

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) Midlands, which represents over 70 members across a range of infrastructure sectors, champions excellence in the industry. CECA Midlands celebrates the vital work its members do in building and maintaining the UK’s transport, energy, water, waste, and communications networks. Winning Project of the Year underlines Crown Highways’ leading role in these efforts.

Similarly, the Highways Awards recognise best practices and innovation in road and transport projects. The Active Travel Scheme of the Year award acknowledges The Greenway Project’s role in promoting sustainable and accessible transport solutions, highlighting the project’s wider impact on the community.

Victory at the Highways Awards completed the significant double coup

Commenting on these achievements, Crown Highways’ Managing Director, Mike Dale, praised the collaborative efforts that brought The Greenway Project to life. He said:

“We’re incredibly proud to have won not just one, but two awards for The Greenway Project. These honours are a testament to the power of collaboration between Crown Highways, Tarmac, and Walsall Council. By working closely together, we were able to deliver a project that not only met the needs of the community but also set new standards for future infrastructure work in the region,”

Steph Smith, Business Manager at Crown Highways, attributed the success to the skill and dedication of the Crown team and told us:

“These awards reflect the outstanding commitment and expertise that our teams bring to every project. Our people worked tirelessly to ensure The Greenway Project was delivered to the highest standards, with a focus on making a lasting impact for the community. Their hard work and attention to detail are what made these achievements possible,”

The Greenway Project has been celebrated for its seamless execution, from planning through to delivery. It has not only improved local infrastructure but also demonstrated Crown Highways’ dedication to delivering innovative, community-focused projects that promote active travel and sustainability.

A spokesperson for Walsall Council also spoke of the double award success for the project:

“To see this project receive such results makes us very proud. Serving our local people is priority number one and to see one of our local schemes receive multiple awards showcases the level of efficiency and quality we’re delivering for our community.”

Harvey Cullen of Tarmac was thrilled with the results, adding:

“Collaboration is key to Tarmac and seeing our collaborative efforts with partners awarded multiple successes is fantastic.”

Crown Highways extends its gratitude to both CECA Midlands and the Highways Awards for recognising their work, as well as to all project partners for their vital role in achieving this success.

As Crown continues to move forward, these dual awards reinforce the company’s standing as a leader in delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions that benefit both the communities they serve.
